Griezmann signs contract extension with Atlético Madrid

Yesterday, Spanish capital club Atlético Madrid announced the contract extension of 25-year-old French forward Antoine Griezmann. Griezmann has played for the Rojiblancos for two seasons and now the current contract runs through June 2021.

Griezmann joined Atlético from Real Sociedad in 2014. Since then, the Frenchman has scored 57 goals, including 44 La Liga goals. He was Atlético Madrid's top scorer for two consecutive years. Last month, he played the UEFA Champions League final against city rivals Real Madrid and scored seven goals in reaching the final.
After the contract extension, Atlético's sporting director José Luis Caminero praised the Frenchman and said "The club has a solid intention of keeping all its key players and Antoine is one of them" ((es))Spanish language: El club tiene una firme apuesta por mantener a sus futbolistas claves y Antoine es uno de ellos.
Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo reported Griezmann's release clause will rise to €100 million.
